Northfields is in the London Borough of Ealing which is conveniently located close to the centre of London. Northfields has an excellent range of shops and amenities. Within 5 minutes walk of the apartment there is a wide range of small independent shops including grocers, butchers, bakers, supermarkets, newsagents, hair dressers, cafes, restaurants and pubs. There are also several specialist shops where, for example, you can have shirts made-to-measure, have indian head massage, learn Thai cookery or make your own greeting cards.

There are several beautiful parks within walking distance of the apartment - perfect for those who enjoy jogging or running. Within these, there are tennis courts, football fields, water features, a bowling green, childrens' play areas as well as a small wildlife enclosure.

For the golfer, there are 5 golf courses within 5km of the apartment - less than 10 minutes by car or 30 minutes on foot. For those who like fishing, there is a fishing lake in Gunnersbury Park which is within walking distance of the apartment and several more within 20 minutes drive ( www.go-fish.co.uk/london.htm ). For watersports enthusiasts there are several local canoe clubs and there is sailing, diving and waterskiing available within 30 minutes drive.

The Grand Union Canal is 10 minutes walk from the apartment and this leads to the River Thames which is just under 3km away. There are lovely walks and cycle paths along the canal and river.

Ealing has a number of local theatres, comedy clubs and museums and it hosts an annual festival which includes a rich and diverse programme of events and activities for all the family including comedy, jazz, blues and opera. Fortunately the bombing of World War Two was less severe in Ealing than elsewhere in London and it has a wealth of listed buildings.

There is easy access locally by bus or on foot to Kew Gardens and Kew Steam Museum. Also within easy reach are Brent River Park, Osterley House, Hampton Court, Ham House, Chiswick House, London Motorcycle Museum, London Transport Museum Depot, Gunnersbury Park and Museum, Pitshanger Manor, Richmond Park, Syon House and Park, Twickenham Rugby Stadium, Legoland, the Wembley Complex and Windsor Castle. In addition, the apartment is conveniently located for getting to Earls Court and Olympia, the Notting Hill Carnival and The Proms at the Royal Albert Hall.

The River Thames at Brentford, Kew, Kingston and Richmond is easily reached.

In addition to all the local events, London is yours to explore at leisure, with all its galleries, theatres, shops and tourist attractions including the Houses of Parliament, Trafalgar Square, Leicester Square, Piccadilly Circus, Covent Garden, Buckingham Palace, the Royal Parks, the Natural History Museum, the Science Museum, Madame Tussauds, the London Eye and shopping in Knightsbridge, Kensington, Oxford Street and Regents Street. Ealing's central location and wide range of transport links provide convenient access to many destinations including central London which is a 20 minute journey by underground. By rail, Paddington is a 10 minute train journey. Major road routes connect Ealing to Oxford, Birmingham, Bristol, South Wales, Central London, Heathrow and Gatwick Airport. Conveniently there are 'night buses' that run all night from central London to Ealing, the bus stop is just outside the apartment, during the day the underground runs every 5 mins into central London.
